Ecological Society of Australia and the ABC, 2005

We coordinated and promoted a public event based on the NSW Government’s biodiversity banking proposal—a market-based mechanism for protecting biodiversity, which involves trading in biodiversity units.

The panel comprised:

  • Hugh Possingham (Professor of Ecology, The University of Queensland)
  • John Quiggan (Professor of Economics, The University of Queensland)
  • Louisa Mamouney (Senior Project Manager, NSW Department of Environment and Conservation)

Bernie Hobbs (ABC’s New Inventors) facilitated the event.

The outcome: The event attracted more than 200 people and was broadcast on ABC Radio National’s Big Ideas program.
