Photography - Rim of Fire
Jenni Metcalfe
The photographs were inspired by a scientific understanding of the working
of glaciers. All were taken in Alaska and represent the various stages
of glaciation from the formation of rivers of ice and their movements down
mountain sides to their end products as moraine, ice bergs, glacial mud and
deep fjords. The photographs seek to reveal the workings of glaciers through
a textural analysis.
"Rim of Fire" was shown at the Incepta 2002 Science-Art Exhibition, Metro Arts Centre, Brisbane, 2002. The Exhibition was the opening event of the Science Writers Festival.
