Tom Dixon [Lead person for: Climate Kelpie maintenance Works part-time, 2 days/month, usually Fridays] After 10 years as a biologist, I decided it was time to combine my passion - writing - with my science. I joined the team here as a science writer, after a spot of retraining in 2009.
Making a difference is what it’s all about, hence my interest in Econnect. I believe that communicating ecological issues, especially involving climate change, will help to shape policy decisions and show the public how they can help avert the worst-case scenario. In my spare time I coordinate a local Oxfam group so I'm very aware that climate change is already affecting people around the globe, including our Pacific Island neighbours. You
can’t beat getting away from it all and, whether it be by pushbike,
motorbike, or sailboat, I try to do so whenever possible.
