Melanie McKenzie
[Role: Workshop presenter Works part-time, as required Econnect is supporting Melanie's PhD]
An electrical engineer in a previous life,
I was delighted to trade in my soldering iron and propeller beanie for a
corner in the back of the Econnect office.
My love-hate relationship with university has led to two undergraduate degrees (one in physics, one in engineering) , and a postgraduate diploma in science communication. I'm now doing a PhD, before the addiction wanes, with Econnect's support as a linkage partner of The University of Queensland. I'm always eager for a challenge and, equipped with my Mac ('Frangipani'), my technical skills, research experience, and flexibility have, I'm told, become assets to the Econnect team. After finishing university in Canada, I took up knitting to prove my domestic capability. The sub-tropics of Brisbane make labouring over woolly jumpers less than enticing, so I'm thinking about finding a new hobby or knitting bikinis instead.
