Mary O'Callaghan

After more than 20 years in software development—originally in Ireland, and later in Brisbane—I finally figured out what I was good at and enjoyed, took myself back to school, and graduated in June 2005 from The University of Queensland with a Post-grad Cert. in Writing, Editing and Publishing.

As a professional editor at Econnect, I use my project management experience in managing print and online publications, while indulging my love of words and anything to do with words—writing, rewriting, condensing, synthesising, substantive editing, copy editing, 'run your eye over it', 'a quick edit', 'by 5 o'clock'...

To recover from all that vigorous desk work, I take time out at my rural retreat in Cooroy, reading; tending my chooks, pomegranates and jackfruit; and bemoaning the lack of a decent spud in the sub-tropics.
