Adriana Velez

After working with Econnect on a project for my master's thesis entitled 'How farmers use scientific climate change predictions', I slipped into a spare desk in the office and hit the ground running as a research assistant.

Working here helps me keep up my stamina when I play mid-field in soccer. We've won most of our games, so I think it's working!

When I'm not on the field daydreaming about the perfect play, I like dreaming up ways of combining my other two favourite things—biology and science communication. I especially love telling stories about amazing animals that do amazing things, and doing my bit to help protect them.

I'm afraid to make any comments about whether Australian soccer is better than it is in Colombia, but I can tell you that I would kill for an unripe (still green) mango from home with salt, pepper and lemon. Trust me—it's delicious!
